Patch v1.1 02
Posted on 11 October 2002 at 18:03:00 by Gat. EN - Patchs

[UPDATE] : the file is now downloadable. I've encountered some problem with the download website.

This new patch fixes a bug when people use your search engine to find downloads or articles.

This is a cumulative patch, i.e. it contains the Patch v1.1.

You can find the patch in the Downloads section.

All packs have been updated, so people who downloads release and upgrade pack after this news' date don't have to patch their version.

Hi Gat

How about leaving the asp-nuke FAQ page as it is in the release pack so people can customise for their own sites?

Thanks

Regards

PEOPLE!

Remember to secure your database!!! its been said before but do it! atleast change the name of your db to something alphanumerical! and you should use your webserver software to secure it further!! i believe this is in the FAQ.. so make sure you do it!!!

if someone can get your login and username they have axs to everything, including editing your dbs, harvesting information.. its not pretty. and to all those users, remember never to use the same passwords all the time, have many, or atleast variations.

maybe asp nuke should have code, so that on setup it randomly generates a DB directory (alphanumerical) so these things can't be as easy to find.

please heed this warning, and if you run a asp-nuke driven site, please login with your admin account and check your private msgs! i recieved one myself!! i thank that person for showing me my mistakes before someone took advantage of the situation!

agreed, important information - random generated db directory sounds like a rather good idea too. Ive check all my security and its fine. people need to remember this though! security IS important, especially when you have other peoples information (sure they shouldn't use the same password all the time - but lets face it, alot of us do). Someone grabs the DB and they have passwords - and in some cases people have yahoo/hotmail etc addresses and use the same passes.. its all a bad idea.

To the users - its always a good precaution to update your passes frequently.

You're RIGHT !
I've tell this in the FAQ and in the readme_en.htm.
And with my new system of db path autodetection, it's easier to use another db path than the db default.
But for the "random generated db path", I can't do this for a simple reason : I couldn't rename it most of the time (read/write permissions).
And also, some webhosts provide a specific securised folder to put databases. <b>USE IT !</b>
